With the increased scrutiny on environmental protection in the automotive industry and the rising environmental requirements, most applications tend to use water-based automotive paints. As an environmentally friendly metallic pigment, it not only has a bright white appearance but also offers high cost-performance. Today, we will discuss the application and advantages of water-based aluminum silver paste in water-based automotive paints.
The coating process for water-based aluminum silver paste mainly includes two types: passivation and inorganic silicon coating. Passivation: This involves phosphate ester passivation with a relatively thin coating layer. Once made into the finished paint, it is not suitable for long-term storage. The product has a bright white appearance, a strong metallic effect, good floatability, and excellent hiding power. It can withstand adverse weather conditions and has a high cost-performance. Main uses: The product is widely used in self-drying and baking-type spray and dip coatings. It is suitable for steel structure coatings with relatively rough surfaces, such as bolts, angle iron, and plates.
Inorganic silicon coating: It offers better compactness and storage resistance. Finished paints made with this coating can generally be stored for 6-12 months. They feature a strong metallic effect, good hiding power, ease of dispersion, and good stability.
At the same time, there are two points to note when producing water-based paints:
1. It is necessary to use a resin system corresponding to the water-based aluminum silver paste, and the resin's acid value should not be too high.
2. During the dispersion of aluminum silver paste, low-speed mixing should be used. High-speed dispersion can bend and deform the aluminum flakes due to excessive shear force.
Water-based aluminum silver paste is an important component of water-based paints, as it integrates well with water-soluble solvents, meeting environmental requirements. It can also reduce the average heat consumption during the baking process by more than 40%, significantly lowering energy consumption during production. Water-based paints also offer advantages such as good surface leveling without ripples, bright color, strong surface hardness, scratch resistance, and weather resistance.
